The Landscape
Research Group is concerned with all types and aspects of landscape,
from wilderness to cities. It is a voluntary, charitable association,
based in Britain but with a world-wide membership. Its purpose
is to encourage the exchange of ideas and to promote research
and practices that engage landscape and environment. It does this by sponsoring public programmes and conferences. As well as through the publication of the Routledge Journal Landscape Research and the Newsletter Landscape
Research Extra.
The Landscape Research Group address a wide variety of interests, disciplines
and professions.Whatever
your involvement with landscape - as an agriculturist, artist, botanist, conservationist, cultural historian, environmental philosopher, geographer, hiker, landscape architect, landscape ecologist, open space activist, land planner, tree hugger, urban gardener or wetland expert... or simply as someone who cares seriously
about our natural surroundings -

LRG Extra - the Summer issue (PDF Version) is available!
Inside you will find detals on: 'Landscape and Sustainable Development' a seminar in Parc de la Deule, Lille, France organzed by LRG and Cemagref (French Institute for Agriculture and Environmental Research). You will also find details , the AHRC 'Landscape in Theory' conference at University of Nottingham, with LRG sponsored speaker, Landscape Architect Anne Whiston Spirn of MIT and LRG Board Member Ken Olwig in response.
19/05/08: We are very pleased to announce the launch of Landscape Europe at a seminar in Stresa, Italy on Thursday 21st May. The Landscape Research Group supported the development of, Blueprint for Euroscape 20202: Reframing the Future of the European Landscape (PDF Version of the Report). This report and its related network proposes a radically new strategic operational approach for the European Union in terms of landscape policy and management.

Recording Wildest Wales organized by LRG with Snowdonia Society-Cymdeithas Eryri. The purpose
of this jointly arranged trip is to provide an opportunity to
visit, enjoy and share views about some of the most spectacular
glaciated scenery in Eryri (Snowdonia) and indeed in Wales, and
learn about the people who have been and continue to be inspired
to paint, write and in other ways, record its qualities. .

2008-09 Conferences, Seminars and Programmes
29-30 April, 2009 X-LArch III 2009, sponsored by the Institute of Landscape Architecture at the Austrian University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences, Vienna Austria. Call for papers in Sept 2008.
8-11 September 2008, the International Association for Landscape Ecology, UK Landscape Ecology and Conservation at Cambridge University. A landscape ecology conference, focused upon farmed, fragmented and cultual, landscapes with a session on putting theory into practice.
9-12 July 2008, Artful Ecologies 2 at University College Falmouth presented by Research in Art, Nature and Environment (RANE). With speakers theorist and curator Dr Hildegard Kurt; artists Alan Sonfist and David Haley, amongst many others.
16-18 June 2008 Geo-Environment and Landscape Evolution 2008 in the New Forest, UK. Organised by the Wessex Institute of Technology and the Universidad Complutense, Spain.
